Rugby fans will also get to see some of James’ sporting memorabilia at the property as trophies, a rugby ball and signed shirts will be on display.

Talking about the reason behind listing their home on Airbnb, James exclusively told MailOnline: ‘The thing with Airbnb, it is so simple to do and such an easy set-up to utilise. So many people I know are doing it.

‘When we decided we were going to go to Japan as part of the World Cup, it was kind of a no-brainer really. It was such a simple process and obviously you can earn some income out of it. I am going to donate my fee to a charity called Sebastian’s Action Trust.

‘It’s something to do, it’s to encourage other people who are going abroad or going away to list their house on this platform. It’s such a simple thing, more people could be earning extra income or utilising their empty homes.’

James went on to reveal that it is something he has thought about doing for a while and that he wanted to give fans an opportunity to stay in his home during the Rugby World Cup.

He continued: ‘I travel a lot and Chloe does travel a lot, I obviously have used Airbnb before and Chloe has as well. It’s very much nicer than going to hotels as you get that intimate experience, you can kind of put exactly what you need, what your requirements are.

‘Often the location is better than you get with hotels, mine was to give rugby fans an opportunity during the World Cup to stay in my house, which is almost a limited experience to watch the World Cup while it’s on.

‘The weekend, I’m away, there’s eight games on at the time, so people can really sit down and enjoy it, to get that real atmosphere of enjoying the world cup.’

And despite opening his home to the public, James isn’t worried about fans seeing his abode or personal belongings, he said: ‘The beauty of Airbnb is there’s many management companies which are available to help look after the house and keep everything in order/

‘That’s the beauty as well, with the Airbnb process you get people who are vetted and have ratings, star ratings. I am very confident people will respect my house just as I respect theirs when I go into it.

‘My house, we have been here for three years, it is intimate but it’s quite functional as well. Some of the aspects, being a rugby player, you never know how long you’re going to stay in one place for so we’ve done a few bits and pieces to it, but we haven’t gone mad.’

Talking about the upcoming World Cup, James said: ‘I would have liked to have been there and played, unfortunately an injury cut my career short, which is a shame. The dream was to go to the World Cup to finish, unfortunately that’s not going to happen.

‘I am able to go out there and work. I’ve got a podcast called House Of Rugby, I’m going to the Maldives in just two weeks, then going out to Japan, putting my house on Airbnb. I’ll be there in some capacity. I’ve obviously gone from an England player to an England fan.

‘My summer has been pretty crazy in terms of me – DJ-ing in Ibiza, Fiji, Tonga. I’m pretty busy with lots of work bits and pieces, I’m disappointed not to be there, always looking forward to the World Cup it will be a very special one in Japan.’

James and Chloe’s house link goes live on Thursday 12 September and is bookable by the public on Airbnb from Monday 23 September.
