Kate got hands-on with the fun new project, explaining that it she first decided to dive into the world of spirit production when she realized that there were no major female-founded vodka companies on the market.

‘After a particularly long day, I decided to host an impromptu cocktail party with my closest friends,’ she recalled in a release.

‘As I prepared to whip up a batch of dirty vodka martinis I surveyed my bar, but I wasn’t 100 per cent happy with my options. Then I wondered, “Are any of these vodkas founded by women?” I did some research, they weren’t. So, I decided to make my own just the way I like it!

‘The creative side of me thought it would be a fun challenge to develop a vodka for my palate, and in a beautiful package that I would love to have on my bar and share with friends,’ she continued.

‘The businessperson in me is now looking forward to the challenge of building a brand in an entirely new industry.’

Businessperson Kate has a whole lot of ventures under her belt, including cofounding the activewear brand Fabletics as well as a fashion line called Happy X Nature.

Beyond acting, she’s also authored two lifestyle books, and shot campaigns for Ann Taylor, Jimmy Choo, New York & Co., Campari, and Almay.

But this is her first-ever beverage, and an alcoholic one at that.

King St. Vodka was inspired by Kate’s memories of hosting friends at her former home on King Street in New York City, and is made by distilling the vodka seven times in small batches.

The spirit, which is gluten-free and uses alkaline water, will first be available in California at BevMo! locations, followed by launches in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

It will also be available online at kingstvodka.com for $24.99.

Kate first teased the launch on Instagram yesterday with a video of herself lounging in a hammock with the words ‘something smooth coming soon’ written across the bottom.

Today, she shared a video of two floral cases arriving for her.

‘So pretty!’ she said, checking out the floral boxes and floral bottles inside. ‘Oh my god, I can’t believe it. It looks awesome.’

She then turned the camera around on herself and spoke to the camera in a bathrobe with no makeup on.

‘I need to explain what’s happening here,’ she said. ‘We’ve been designing this for literally a year… and we finally came to this, and this is the first time I’m seeing it completely bottled together and the box.

‘I’m so happy! But do we drink now, it’s only noon!’

She also revealed that she gave her close friend Sara Foster a sneak peek at the product before it launched, sharing a video that she sent to her revealing the design of the bottle.

‘You can’t post this yet, you have to wait,’ Kate is seen saying in the clip, while showing off the box. ‘This is the box. Then look how pretty,’ she continues while holding up the floral bottle.’

Later, Sara shared her own Instagram Story of the release, joking that they owned the company together and are the ‘new Rande Gerber and George Clooney.’
