Baby Sussex have finally been revealed to the world as Archie Harrison, and from his mother’s maternity wardrobe to his birth at a private hospital birth, his arrival has been a rather costly affair.

During Meghan’s pregnancy, she  enjoyed a New York baby shower, where she took over a New York penthouse  with her celebrity pals, and also went on a £33,000 spa babymoon with Harry just weeks before the birth.

Throughout the nine months her maternity wardrobe, which consisted of many designer labels amounted to over half a million. And like any mother-to-be she also indulged in some treatments – including accupunture at a West London spa.

Meghan was also said to be whisked off to a private hospital to give birth to Archie, instead of having the home birth she was hoping for.

The total of her pregnancy and the birth comes to £1.10 million. Here Femail reveals just how much Meghan’s pregnancy cost….

The Duchess wore a gold and turquoise necklace from Jennifer Meyer which cost £576, sandy beige heels from Manolo Blanik for £495 and also a white belted blazer dress by British designer Grace Wales Bonner – with her pieces starting from around £800.

While the couple also swaddled their son Archie in a £105 merino wool shawl and £65 hat by G.H. Hurt & Son for the photocall in St George’s Hall, Windsor Castle, this afternoon.

The move marks a continuation of some 70 years of royal tradition, with new parents including the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge all choosing to swaddle their children in shawls from the company on their public debuts.

Meghan’s baby shower in New York was a star studded affair, with guests such as tennis player Serena Williams and Amal Clooney attending.

Held at the penthouse at The Mark hotel in the upmarket Upper East-Side district of New York, they had flower-arranging lessons and dessert tasting with a Michelin-star chef.

Meghan’s close pals were treated to stork-shaped cake pops and miniature slices of carrot cake, as well as multiple cupcakes iced in pink and green frosting.

But the cost of the baby shower totted up after paying for private jets, security, flowers, lavish dinners and also goodie bags that all the guests took home with them.

The royal couple have made their new home Frogmore cottage as ‘baby friendly’ as possible – but not just by using vegan paint – which costs £40 a tin.

Meghan is said to have used the paint in the nursery as it is made with rosemary oils and eucalyptus.

However she also had a interior designer Vicky Charles decorate the nursery to be as eco-friendly as possible.

While a green energy unit, which controls their heat, electricity and water, has also been installed in their home.

The treatments at the store cost £6,200 for a year of 45-minute sessions.

The couple has also visited the store for numerology – which costs £2,500 pounds for a 12-week programme.

The 18th century Georgian mansion has become a favourite among celebrities with guests including Liv Tyler and Cara and Poppy Delevingne staying there while attending Princess Eugenie’s wedding in nearby Windsor in October, and Liv sharing a snap of guests collapsed in one of the suites.

The couple were said to have booked out the most expensive apartment, which for £10,000-a-night boasts its own dining room and private terraces.

Meghan’s hopes of a home birth were dashed when she was taken to hospital on Sunday by Harry and their Scotland Yard security team.

It is thought that she was taken to the Portland – where even a ‘basic’ delivery costs upwards of £15,000. Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie were delivered there too.

The Duchess was hoping for a homebirth and her and Harry had studied hypnobirthing techniques and were hopeful of having an all-female midwife-led delivery in the privacy of their own home at Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate. But as the week dragged on, it began to look increasingly unlikely it would be possible.
