A mother-of-three whose jaw snapped when a pub landlord punched her ‘straight in the face for no reason’, spoke about her trauma as he starts a 12-month jail sentence.

Jamie-Lee Ferguson, 30, was enjoying a night out with friends when 39-year-old Clint Hampson launched a violent one-punch attack in Wythenshawe, Manchester.

Two years and two surgeries later Ms Ferguson watched as the landlord of the Silver Birch pub was handed a 12-month prison sentence on Thursday, August 8.

A Manchester Crown Court jury found him guilty of assault, despite Hampson pleading not guilty to the crime.

As her attacker begins his jail term Ms Ferguson opened up about the ‘worst two years’ in an interview with the Manchester Evening News

She said: ‘Mentally, it has destroyed me as a person.

‘It is only in the last few months that I have started to go out again. I was an out-going person but after he did that to me, I started to exclude people and cut people off.

‘I am slowly starting to get back there now, but it is far from over.’

Ms Ferguson, who is mother to an eight-year-old son and four-year-old daughter, still can’t properly smile and is forced to eat only soft food.

And just 10 months after the attack she was forced to endure a second blow when her 11-day old daughter died.

CCTV footage played out in court shows the moment her jaw was broken outside a pub on December 23, 2017.

She says she cannot remember what happened to cause the assault but was hit by someone else inside the Silver Birch before Hampson attacked her outside.

‘The first thing that I can remember is waking up in hospital the next day – Christmas Eve. My jaw was in half and I was rushed to emergency surgery,’ Ms Ferguson said.

‘They were going to perform open keyhole surgery to the back of my head at first, I was told.

‘They rebuilt my jaw because it was snapped in two places and I had three plates put in my face.’

Ms Ferguson now faces losing more of her teeth and has been referred back to the Maxillofacial unit for assessment.

And although her face is not yet back to how it used to be she hopes one more surgery could fix it.

‘Physically I am getting there. I have still got to have, I am hoping, one more operation.

‘My jaw is not aligned properly but after this operation, I am hoping it will be the end.’
