A single mother who was trolled on Instagram for posting a picture of her stretchmarks has revealed she is now hired because of her ‘tiger stripes’.

Plus size model Chelsea Outram, 23, from Rochdale, Manchester, has more than 64,000 followers on Instagram and is a proud mother to her three-year-old daughter, Amara.

Chelsea, who is signed to Manchester-based J’Adore Models, has worked for Pretty Little Thing, InTheStyle and Boohoo and regularly posts pictures of her glamorous life online.

But when she posted a picture of her ‘tiger stripes’ – the stretch marks she was left with after giving birth, she was shocked at the level of abuse she received from some people.

Speaking to the Sun’s Fabulous online, she said: ‘I have men commenting saying, ‘ew’ and women saying, ‘men don’t want to see this’, but I’m not doing it for men so it all goes over my head.

‘The worst thing was probably, ‘this is why you’re single, men don’t want to see this kind of stomach, stick to selfies’.

‘But I don’t do it to get validation from men, it’s strictly to help women and mums and anyone who’s struggling.’

Despite the cruel jibes from some, Chelsea says she was delighted to receive positive comments from other women who were happy to see a ‘real’ body – flaws and all.

She first posted a picture of her stretchmarks last year, and said: ‘I would have never have posted this picture this time last year, I was so caught up in looking ‘perfect’ for the gram that I was losing myself so much.

‘I’m so proud of myself for how far I’ve come with appreciating my body. I know its not the greatest body you will have seen on your timeline, but its my body and Amara’s home.

‘I picked myself back up and reflected on my journey, No one can make you feel great apart from yourself, no one can make you achieve greatness but yourself.’

Now, she claims that these days she is often hired as a model because of her stretchmarks – and companies are choosing to forgo Photoshop in order to show women ‘real’ bodies.

She added: ‘I’ve only had one brand Photoshop my stretch marks out before and I learned not to shoot with them again. The industry is on a big turn at the moment.’
