William Russell has been elected as the 692nd Lord Mayor of the City of London and raised his feather hat to crowds as part of the 804th Lord Mayor’s Show.
His carriage was drawn by six shire horses and paraded him along a three-mile-long route, starting at Mansion House at 11am and travelling via Cheapside and St Paul’s to the Royal Courts of Justice.
Among the spectators was actor Damian Lewis and and wife Helen McCrory who were pictured wrapped up warm as they braced the cold for the procession.
Crowds greeted Mr Russell while also paying tribute to British culture, with some donning a Yorkshire Tea costume or a Tregothnan Tea prop on the back of their bicycle.
